Linux based OS’s, that use the Freetype engine to
rasterize fonts to screen, can do both, ignore or use a fonts hinting
instructions. This has often been seen as a ‘worst of both worlds’
scenario, but actually it can form the basis for a
powerful tool for testing fonts across different rasterization
settings.
